The year has begun now…

So Karens heading off to the gym while Noah and i hang out at home (both sick), but the past few weeks have started off well for team fuller. We’ve been regulars at the gym, karen running and working out, me spinning and lifting. I’ve been working mostly on my base training, but making that a short phase for this winter and plan to start up my interval, lactate-threshold workouts pretty soon. The Newman YMCA has some pretty nice Keisser M3 spinning bikes that feel almost like the road. They are 1000 times better than the old flywheel with brake spinning bikes i’m used to. Plus, as an added bonus, it tracks watts, rpm, and distance (which is wildly inaccurate).

So, now just waiting to feel a little better, a chest cold makes it tough to do anything aerobic, so i’ll be off the bike for a few days. In the meantime, Karen and I are starting to work on a few fundraising ideas for us.

Its Official, We’re Registered!

So its official now. Karen and I registered for the Livestrong Challenge – Philadelphia 2010 yesterday and pretty soon will start our official push at fundraising for the year. We’re going to be participating as a team again, Team LiveBold. We hope to add a few more people to the team this year and hope to raise more money this time as well. Thanks everyone for their support last year and we look forward to sharing this experience with you over the next nine months as we train, prepare and raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Harpoon Brewery to Brewery Ride!

So I’m planning to do the Harpoon Brewery to Brewery ride, from the Boston MA brewery, to their Windsor VT Brewery in June 2010. It’s a 150 mile, 1 day ride. I did the ride 2 summers ago and it was a blast. This time I’ll be riding with my friend Steve and possibly others. Definitely looking forward to it. It’s a really demanding ride, lots of hills, and 150 miles is a good bit for one day. The last 20 miles or so were really hilly and really hurt the last time I did the ride. This time I’ll be sure to be in better riding shape and will kill the hills, right Steve?

Up and running

So the blog is up and running now. We’re a few weeks away from registration and I’m starting to gear up and develop some fundraising ideas. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, let us know, we’re open to ideas! We’re bothing working out, trying to stay in shape over the winter and I’ll probabaly be off the bike until it warms up again in April. I am a warm weather person at heart and rides below 50 degrees just dont appeal to me. So… it will be spinning, running and working out at the gym for the next few months.

Why We’re Doing This

Welcome to our Livestrong Challenge Blog! We started this in an effort to chronicle the next 9 months of our efforts related to the Livestrong Challenge. Karen and I, along with many family and friends, will be participating in the 2010 Philadelphia Livestrong Challenge on August 21-22, 2010. I will be riding the 100 mile bike route and Karen will be running the 5k. Why are we doing this? We’ve come to the realization that Cancer sucks! Too many people close to us have either lost their battle, or had their lives turned upside down fighting the disease. I did the ride last year with several family members as part of Team Bold and it was a huge success. I’ll post my review of the 2009 ride at a later date and you’ll see how amazing that was. This year, we’re trying to grow and expand “Team Bold” even more and raise even more money. Anyways, this is just the beginning, I’ll be updating this blog continually.
